All motorcycles are cool - period. But the Triumph Rocket 3 GT is a bike that makes you feel cool. I bought this brand new from the dealership with 3mi on the clock. I am only about 2,000mi into this bike and I just cant imagine this getting old. The Rocket 3 Storm represents what I love most about the motorcycle community. Meeting people and riding hard with no place to go is easy on the Rocket 3. The lore surrounding this motorcycle definitely accelerates conversation among other riders.
The best part of being on a bike is — being on a bike. That's why I am trying to keep this bike all about the ride. I typically use motorcycles as multi-purpose vehicles. Commuting, running errands, and taking long trips are the usual. But keeping the Triumph clean, uncluttered, and close to OEM has become a priority. This is unusual for me, as I typically add all of the long-distance battle accessories. However, I am considering an over-the-clocks cellphone mount. The under-seat storage gets too hot and puts the phone into a high-temperature warning. When the phone is in my pocket, it messes with the GPS regardless of whether the screen is face up or face down.
The only thing I carry on the Rocket 3 GT is the universal emergency kit (link above). It is packed full of tools and equipment that I would want on any bike for roadside emergencies or long trips. It easily transfers from bike to bike.
No need to have one kit for each bike. No need for one kit for local rides and another for long-distance rides. On this motorcycle, the emergency kit also serves as lumbar support for all-day comfort. No lower back pain as reported by other Triumph Rocket 3 riders.
To date, the longest I have been on this bike was 3.5 hours, stopping only long enough to fuel. But there are many more miles planned ahead. I really enjoy spending the day on this bike. However, I still prefer my Kawasaki for very long distances.
ATGATT: All The Gear, All The Time - is the only standard that we can encourage. While we are guilty of breaking the ATGATT recommendation, we do not encourage others to do so. A properly sized and rated helmet, along with protective clothing and body protection, is always best practice.
